Remote PC Access SoftwareHave you ever been in the situation on a Saturday morning where it just hits you. You realize you forgot to send that important document and you end up traveling all the way back to work just to go and finish up. Now, this would never have happened if you had remote PC access software because it would have enabled you to access your work computer, download all the files – make those final edits and then send it as if you were sitting right there at your desk. The idea of controlling a pc remotely is more than just a geeky dream. Its got immense potential and will eventually allow all of us to quite literally work from anywhere in the world. The ability to access your workstation regardless of where you are on the planet offers a lot of flexibility regardless of the type of job you are doing. For large corporations with central servers it allows field operators to access vital information remotely without compromising on security breaches. For the office worker, it means you can do your work exactly as if you were at your desk – but sitting in your living room in your p-jays. Remote PC access software started out as very rudimentary pieces of software that had very poor security, but as the demand grew so did the technology. Today these software are incredibly sophisticated and offers seamless access with very good security. The way that remote pc access software works is pretty straight forward. You have 2 computers – 1 acting as the host and the other acting as the access computer. You simply install a small piece of software on the host and then install the access software on the computer with which you wish to connect and with a little bit of configuring you are good to go. Behind the scenes there’s actually a lot of complicated processes happening, but to you as the user its all very user friendly and with some of the latest remote access programs its as simple as one, two, three…All you need is a host computer, an internet connection, the software and a pc to access it. But it also does not have to end with PC to PC access either. With modern mobile devices like the iPhone its opened up a whole new world of possibility. You can now even access your pc remotely via your mobile device. Obviously you will be limited by functionality and there are issues with compatibility but in the near future we will be as mobile as we dreamed about 10 years ago.

Remote Access PC Software SecurityIf you’ve seen remote access PC software in action, the it probably freaked you out how someone can access your entire computer remotely. At first it might raise some security issues for you, but with the latest remote access tools its really not an issue. Although many spyware packages actually use the same technology, dealing with some of the better “brand name” packages is very safe and there really is nothing to worry about. The way in which the latest remote computer access software works is that it requires 2 identical matches. The one match has to come from the main computer while the second has to come from the access computer. Along with 32 bit password protection there is no way that anyone can access your computer remotely without having both your passwords and your software installed. There is however certain things you need to be very careful of. There are certain “free” softwares that are nothing but spyware. When you install their programs they actually set your computer up as a host which allows them to gain access to your entire system. All your files and your entire hard drive will not just be visible to them, but they will be able to work on your computer as if they were sitting in your chair. The latest anti spyware packages are very good in preventing this, but the problem is with so-called shareware and freeware software where they actually make you “agree” on installing the software and since no one ever reds the pages of terms and conditions you can actually allow people access to your computer without knowing it. Although its against the law and anti spyware will protect you, you need to be very carefull. When it comes to actually installing remote access software you need to be very carefull. ONLY buy and use reputable software as you never know what they really have planned for you – especially with free software. Having remote access to PC’s is a great invention and as long as you put safety first it can really make your life a whole lot easier. Whether you just want to access your main computer from a laptop or even if you want to access it from your iPhone, it’s a technology that’s changing lives.

Remote Access SoftwareAlthough remote pc access software started out rather rudimentary, its evolved into sophisticated pieces of software that can truly transform your life in so many different ways. While laptops are great for mobility, we somehow always seem bound to a server or some “main computer” somewhere. Remote access software is freeing us from this last frontier that kept many people bound to their office chairs. Today, there are quite a few software packages available on the market. One of the first – and arguably one of the best is GoToMyPC. When it first came out, most people were freaked out by the prospect, but it soon caught on today it is the leader in remote access technology. Whether you are just a home user who needs access to your home PC while on holiday, or whether you need access to your work PC while at home – this easy to use software is the best solution (in my humble opinion). GoToMyPC works through any web browser and once you’ve installed it, it just needs your password. It allows you access to the entire computer that you are connected to and you can copy and past files across the 2 computers, use software on the remote PC and even access the networks that the remote computer is connected to. The current price is $19.95 per month for a single computer, while 2 computers cost $29.95 and 3 or more costs an extra $14.98 per month. LogMeIn is another great piece of software and is much cheaper than GoToMyPC. It currently costs only $69.95 per year for a single license while a 10 license package is only $59.95 per year. Essentially is does exactly what GoToMyPC does, but its not nearly as user friendly or as powerful. It does offer a very good basic function and unless you are an advanced user, this is really a good option for you. In the last year or two there’s been a lot of new packages. The latest is by software giant Symantec with PC Anywhere. It’s a standalone package priced at $199.99 and is packed with some very advanced features. Its definitely geared towards a high end user and the price tag reflects it. This is a great solution for business owners who need a high level of flexibility with maximum security.

Software For Remote NetworkingIf you spend any time with a computer then you know that there are always issues that require the assistance of a professional technician. When you depend on your computer, it is absolutely necessary that your problems are resolved quickly and efficiently. When the technician is not able to come out to fix your computer, it could be devastating to your business. Remote network support is one way to avoid this problem. You may be wondering what remote network support is and how it can help you. Remote network support uses the technology that allows one computer to connect with another and operate it from a remote location. The technician simply has to log into your computer and soon he or she can begin working on your problem. It is a great technology just for this purpose. There are a few different ways that a technician will be able to connect with your computer and resolve your computer issues. There are multiple programs on the market that use this technology and like everything else, some are better than others. Some of these programs are absolutely free for you to use as well. Of course, the free editions are only for personal use. Those that use the product on a larger network will have to pay for a full edition. Windows XP had its own edition of a remote network desktop installed when the operating system was first released. It had some good points and some drawbacks. The system worked well for many people, and some believe that this is the first remote network support system was available, but it is not. The first remote network support program was available on a Linux system and it did not have the graphic interface that you may be familiar with today. It operated with commands and required the user to have knowledge of the Linux operating system. This initial remote network support program was calld SSH. The programs that are available today are much easier to use. As there should be on this type of system there are security blocks in place. One of the easiest security features is that both computers connecting must have the software installed. The program is password protected, but you do have the option to leave the password disabled. There are a number of benefits to this type of program in tech support. Accessing a computer remotely to resolve a problem is a much more efficient use of the technicians time. Some technicians are able to work on more than one computer at a time. There are many different software programs out there for a tech support department to use for a company. Carefully weigh the options available on each to find the right remote network support that works for you. |
