You can try tightvnc (www.tightvnc.com) but you may have to work with your IT dept to allow traffic on the port that it uses. Another option is to use RDP, comes already installed with Windows, you just need to create a secure vpn connection and you are good to go. (Again, I would suggest enlisting the help of your IT dept. with this)

Poor mans version of PC Anywhere (it’s free in most cases, and just as powerful).

Window’s built in RDP is the best. (RDP = Remote Desktop Protocol)
The computer being accessed needs windows XP pro though. I’m not sure which version of Vista has RDP.
